Bored Walk, then the Board Walk

I spent the day golfing on Saturday, and Christina took Robby to the beach at Rocky Neck. Everyone had a great day, but unfortunately there was a lost item at the beach -- so we went down to the shore first thing on Sunday. No luck at the lost and found, but we did take a side trip to the Niantic Boardwalk.

After a few tries, we finally found the park. Stupid signs.

We did notice that Niantic is famous for Sushi, Dead Egyptians, Monsters from Spice planets and Lady's undergarments

Walking along street, which we thought was the boardwalk. Saw a few trains

Big ol' thumbs down

Train trestle

Then we found the boardwalk!

Beautiful Beach

One long baby cage -- Robby went free range on us

The sound

Mommy baby time

Sunshine

And only one nuclear power plant in sight!

Come on Mommy, let's run!

A great day at the beach

And then we went to Lunch on Mystic

That's a lobster roll smile.

Dog days of summer (K-9 Olympics)

Every year about this time we drive by the Uconn Depot campus and see signs for the K-9 Olympics. It would honestly make me wonder: what in the world is the K-9 Olympics?

Is it a Dog show? A skills contest pitting K-9 law enforcement officers against each other in a challenging obstacle course? A demonstration of attack and subdue skills? A collection of military style clothing and hair cuts running around in a field hopped up on adrenaline and yelling at dogs? Assault weapons and assault vehicles? Balloon animals and clowns? A guy in a dog suit?

This year we decided to go. Turns out it's actually all of the above.

What am I looking at?

News Flash: Local TV camera man puts on nicest Mickey Mouse shirt in hopes that today his zoom and pan skills are finally acknowledged by the public access executives.

Modern hipster spotted in skinny turquoise jeans

Traditional law enforcement vehicle. Ah, the good old days

For those times when the police need added protection.

And when they need overwhelming combatant neutralization capabilities.

Counterbalanced with furry PR!

Sunday Funday

Daddy and baby gave Mommy a little solo time to catch up on her relaxing. We headed to the UCONN Forest to stroll teh Nipmunk trail.

Mosquito infested swampy mess. Bailed on it pretty quick. Look on Robby's left cheek. We headed to UCONN to wander around. Much less of a sweltering stink hole.

Man on a mission

Nope, back this way

Playground / Art / Taxpayer dollars

Stick and sippee kept him entertained

Bouncy!

Live Action Bouncy:

Look at the size of those plants. I know it feels like a rain forest here now, but come on!

First Cicada shell I've seen this year

Watch Robby get smaller...

And Smaller.....

And Smaller.....

And Smaller.....

And Smaller.....

And Smaller.....

And pick flowers.

Daily Happy: 'bout time

I know, I KNOW, right? It's just been so busy -- And then there's this:

Makes you want to just sit on the couch all day. Except that it's really hot on the couch. Who's got time for this? Maybe it's the people who say "What do you expect? It's summer". What do I expect? The unexpected. Right on time.

Time to celebrate America and enjoy an evening at the Cassidy Hill Vineyard. We had strawberry shortcake and hung out with Granny Davis

Time to wander around Big Y looking for Hummus. Took two laps. Finally swallowed sample cheddar cheese and store brand pepperoni (free, what can I say?) and my pride and asked directions. Produce assistant said "I'm not good with directions, so follow me" The Truth.

I followed her around the corner where she pointed and said: Under the sign over there. The one that says you're a dummy and you can't read." I made the last part up about the Dummy. Sure felt like it though.

Time to bounce on the bed. Head banging on the pillow is now his favorite activity.

Time for the playground

Time to beat the heat at the water park in Willimantic. Stina told me the signs were in Spanish, with English translations on the back. I took French in high school. That's panning out for me.

Nap time.

Community organizing time. Subscribe to ashfordwindinfo.blogspot.com
Stay up to date on the proposed wind turbines on the Ashford / Union line just north of our house. We're meeting with a representative of Pioneer energy to discuss the project on Monday, August 5th. We need to make sure we and the town have as much information as we can collect about this project so we can make an informed decision. This will certainly have an impact on the community, so we need to make sure we do what we can to make it a positive one. See you there.

A little quality time with Robby as he learns to throw rocks. Waiting while Stina addressed the LCIA about the proposed wind project.
