Daily Happy: Shameless Dad Blog

Robby had a busy week: Picnics, Hikes, and a visit to the library to hang out with a giant stuffed teddy bear.

Or maybe a Tubby Bear?

Here's the bouncy dance -- getting them legs ready to walk.

Picnic Wednesdays

Robby and Christina came to see me at work. We went next door to Dinosaur State Park (lots of parks this week) to have a Picnic Lunch. If you've forgotten, Wednesday was the nice one this week: 75 degrees and no humidity. And Having the family at the office and stealing me away for lunch was wonderful. We should do this everyday.

Where are we headed?

I see a pavillion

What's for lunch, people?

Sandwiches, Apples, and Coca-Cola. By the way, I would include more references to Coca-Cola and other fine Coke products if they were to send me products for evaluation (read free-stuff). Just sayin'...

Boys Night out

Christina started school tonight. As a consequence, I had to clean up after dinner and Robby needed something to do. So, while the mom's away, the boys will play!

What do you think we should do, Dad?

How about Bigelow Hollow State Park

We'll put you in the back-pack

And head out into the woods

We'll walk and walk and walk.

Well, that's Fair

We took Robby to the Brooklyn Fair last weekend. It's the best deal in Eastern Connecticut. Not too crowded, more farm day than fairway--great food and ice cream. Robby had a blast.

Ctrl-Alt-Repeat: Vinegar Chicken w/ Fried Okra

Vinegar chicken take two. This time, skip the beets, enter Fried Okra

"You want me to eat Okra? You do know I'm a Yankee, right?"

Lots -o- Chicken legs and thighs. Crushed Tomatoes let me skip the blender step

Browned up and ready to braise

Simmering away. Threw it in the oven for 1-1/2 hours

C'mon. That's just hot.

Finger-licking.

And now to the Okra. Yeah, I know. Okra in New England. And not at a fish fry or a Pig Roast. But, if you fry something, they will come. Again and again. Easy to cook, easy to batter, 3 minutes in the wok. Phenomenal  Absolutely delicious.

Dictionary.com says "Golden Brown", n, origin: Bobby's Kitchen
1. Fried Okra
2. See (1) above

Subtle flavor like a fresh string bean. Fried, it holds up very well.

Strongly recommend. I'll teach it to you if you want. $5

"Daddy made fried Okra, and I'm loving it. Only one thing to say about this..."

"...Boom!"
