Our Wild Thing

We took Robby to the New Britain Museum of American Art on Saturday to see the Maurice Sendak Wild Things collection. Truth be told, I dragged the family there because I really wanted to see the Maurice Sendak Wild Things Collection.

It was very busy -- the busiest I've ever seen the museum. There's free admission on Saturday Mornings from 10-12, and with the Wild Things Collection, there were a ton of kids. It was nice to have Robby there with him not being the loudest thing around!

The Wild Things Collection was nice, but Robby had more fun outside seeing the sculptures! He just loves sculptures!

And then we went to The Elbow Room in West Hartford For Lunch. Delicious! I highly recommend it.

Black Squirrel Friend

Looky what I saw in the woods in Pomfret:

Right in the middle of the picture. It was just off the red/blue trail at Mashomoquet State Park.

I used to see black squirrels all the time in College Park, but apparently they're quite rare here in Connecticut. And I got to see one. Boom!

A Bolton Notch on my belt

So we headed out to meet the Halls for Jim's B-day party at Chuck's Steak house in Rocky Hill. On the way we stopped at Bolton's Notch Park to take in the scenery. We actually entered the park through a small Bolton park that used to be he Manchester drive in.

Every year around May, we somehow forget that it actually gets cold at the other end of the year. I've always figured it was a coping mechanism: Better to forget that unless you live in the Tropics, there's about a 100% chance that you'll be getting frozen junk falling from the sky at some point in the future. And I don;t know about you, but I prefer to spend my mornings in bed, not shoveling. And in my t-shirt, not a heavy coat.
