Go America! Parade Time

We went to the Willimantic Boom Box Parade today. Everyone in town comes out and blares the patriotic (aka Philip Sousa) music playing on the local AM station. The parade is open to anyone that wants to march, or ride or drive. It's nice to see a community come together. It's also nice to see 30 year old boom boxes borrowed from the local antique store!!!

It lasted about 1 hour and twenty minutes. In the sun. With a toddler... It was a lot of fun! Robby had a great time watching the trucks and running around Memorial Park. My Mom's in town and hanging out with us -- so it was a family affair!

The day started with a tractor.

Ain't that the truth

Christina put together a real good slide show of the parade today.

40 lbs Sterling

While camping at Smuggler's Notch last weekend, we took a hike out of the notch up to Sterling pond -- elevation 3500 feet.

It's about 1,000 feet up and 2.2 miles. And I had 40 lbs of Robby and Supplies on my back. It took us 2 hours round trip, which is the posted average time. Not too shabby.
