Sometimes it's the simple things in life that are the best. For dinner this evening, we had some summer classics. We started with homemade clam chowder. Then we followed it up with classic BLTs (Bobby added cheese to his, which I guess makes it a BLTC):
Please note all the oyster crackers, which is the real reason I eat chowder...
And then (and this demands a drum roll) we capped off the meal, eaten in the backyard on the patio in the perfect springtime weather, with Strawberry Shortcake. June is the month for fresh strawberries in Connecticut, so we picked some up from Pumpkin Paul's in Mansfield, cut them up, and tossed in a quarter cup of sugar to encourage the fruit to break down. Oh my god, it was DELICIOUS:
Go out and get some strawberries from your local grower. You won't regret it.
