Block Island

Summer time at the beach. A ferry ride. Ice cream and Lemon-Cucumber water. Not bad for a Tuesday, if you ask me.

Christina and I took Robby to Block Island on the Block Island Express out of New London. Left at 8:30 Tuesday morning, got back 6:30 Tuesday night. It was a blast. We had breakfast on the island, went on a nice walk, spent dome tie at the beach, a light lunch, ran into Uncle Bill and Ginger at a nice hotel, and finished the day with Ice Cream and a nice ride home.

The island is cozy, but there is a lot to do. Beaches are nice but not well marked: so keep your eyes open for people carrying beach towels and follow them. It's like the rest of New England--heavily skewed toward the incumbent.

Lots of restaurants to choose from, and the price aren't too bad. We had a great Breakfast at Ernie's by the Post office, make sure to go. Good old fashioned big breakfasts. Had a few snacks at the National Hotel--food OK, view is great!

Everything was coming up Bobby and Stina -- Following breakfast we walked to the new harbor while Robby napped. On the way back, we found a little hidden beach that was perfect for Robby. We intended just to let him wade, but he dipped his bottom into the water, so we had to let him indulge. He sat in the water and splashed around--only knocked over once by the waves.

We then snuck up and had some lunch. After lunch we walked to the Spring House and ran into Uncle Bill and Ginger -- out of nowhere! Robby was fascinated with Uncle Bill's beard. Sat on the porch and relaxed for a bit. Nice place.

We topped it off with Ice Cream and sat in the shade while Robby napped before catching the ferry home.

You should go.
