Crabby Natives
Every year I get crabs. After the doctor's appointment, we head down to Cape May and buy a few dozen #2's steamed and set too picking on the porch. Many have mocked us, many have sneered and even more have not tried that succulent crustacean native to backwaters and tidal swamps of the mid atlantic: Blue Crab.
Stina, as usual, was tearing them up by my side. Robby ate a whole mess of it as well.
But this year, I had the opportunity to pass my craft along to another. Heather was brave enough to jump in. And ate about a half dozen.
And now, the moment you've all been waiting for:
Robby at the Table
Eating my fruit
More Yogurt from Grandma
Hi Becky! Watermelon Chin
Cousins!
Birthday Cake
Happy Birthday Meadow!
Cape May Meals
The rules are simple: Two meals enter, one meal leaves. Wait, that's the thunderdome. Or a critique of my eating habits.
The rules are simple: The final tally is an amalgamation of taste, texture, presentation and promptness, the scale as requested by the group. Meals were ranked based on a scale of 1 to 10: 1 being hog slop and 10 being metaphysical certitude -- that which would make Julie Childs and Jacques Pepin drop the niceties and gouge at each other's eyes for the final spoonful.
So, here we go:
Dinner Prepared By Score
Baked Ziti Christina 10
Mexican Wraps Gene, Becky 10
Chicken Pie Heather 10
Pizza Jim & Sue 10
Beef Pie Peter 10
Steak,
Tomato/Mozz Grandpa, Sue 10
Pulled Pork,
Sesame Chicken Grandma, Christina 10
But seriously, it's a great thing we do having family dinners in Cape May. Brings us together and lets us showcase some of our favorite dishes. Everyone prepared great dishes and they were enjoyed by all -- except that I didn't get any of the beef pie. Can't wait to see what we're having next year!
I knocked this one out of the park. Touch 'em all. What a cracker! Way to punch the old onion bag.
